TexpoART Dream 2020

The 5th edition of TexpoART International Triennial of Textile Art inherently offers a moment of balance. Thus, from 2008 until now, 300 artists have aligned their works on the cymas of the city of Iasi. (…) During the 5 editions of TexpoART, renowned artists and graduates from all over the world exhibited: North and South America, Australia, Asia, Europe. A brief review cannot capture the diversity of plastic approaches, the impressive demonstration of imagination and talent of the exhibited works, given the combinatorial possibility of artistic textiles.

In fact, this is the main topic of all textile art events. (…)

The TexpoART 2020 edition is generically entitled VIS / DREAM, offering participants a wide area of investigation: the dream as an oneiric phenomenon, the dream as a longing, the dream as hope, the dream as personal desire or extended to the scale of the humanity. (…)

So, on the cymas of the Victoria and Theodor Pallady art galleries, under the aegis of UAP-Iasi, also with the valuable support of the George Enescu National University of Arts and of the City Hall of Iasi, more than 90 works made by artists from Europe, America and Asia (21 countries), from several generations, from established creators to fresmen-graduates of arts schools were gathered.

The textile arts, which have long been outside the sphere of the two-dimensional, allow the juggling with the space, with materials, with dimensions, in the most authentic spirit of contemporary art. (…)

The dream state to which the participating artists refer has nothing to do with the chemically induced hallucinations, but with the return to the natural attributes of human nature, to the constructive attitudes without burocratic limits, to that wonderful thing what would be if. (…)
